Awards, verifies and revises financial aid as needed for over 1400 applicants per year. Responsible for understanding and correctly applying the principles of the Federal Methodology system of needs analysis, state and federal financial aid regulations and institutional policies in these processes. Counsels students and families regarding the financial aid process, eligibility issues, and student account policies, processes and procedures. Makes appropriate referrals as necessary. Develops and nurtures relationships with students and families of ethnically diverse backgrounds through culturally responsive conversations and outreach events. Assists in the University's commitment to enroll greater numbers of ethnically diverse students. Exercises professional judgment in accordance with established policy and within federal guidelines. Primarily responsible for presenting to students and parents financial aid workshops both on and off campus, flexing job hours as needed to do evening presentations. Serves on the Financial Aid Appeal and Professional Judgment Committee and other committees as assigned.

Bachelors degree, or 4 years comparable experience. Two years of experience in counseling, business, or related field. Excellent attention to detail and outstanding communication skills. Effective counseling skills, demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, capable of creating win-win situations when conflict arises, able to handle stress in a positive manner. Proficient with Mircosoft Office products including Word, Outlook and Excel. Previous financial aid or student account experience in higher education is preferred. Able to speak and write in another language (preferably Spanish) a plus.
