Description:
The Community Colleges of Spokane is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Customer Services Specialist in the Student Services Division at Spokane Community College.

GENERAL DEFINITION

Under general supervision, at the Student Services Island, this position will provide assistance and problem resolutions to students regarding SCC programs, services, policies and procedures. This position will help the public and students with completing and accepting forms and provide information regarding admissions, entrance testing, financial aid, registration, disability support services, transcripts, and other services and resources offered at SCC/CCS.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for providing customer service via phone, email, and in-person with students at the main student service counter. Respond to and interact with prospective students about admissions, testing requirements, financial aid, registration, disability support services, transcripts, and general college/program information and resources to support student success.

* Responsible for maintaining knowledge of the federal, state and institutional policies and procedures to ensure students have information on maintaining financial aid and proper program completion.* Maintain knowledge of services and resources at SCC/CCS to provide students information on all resources.
* Research and problem solve staff, student and public inquiries and inform students of student services available to them.
* Responsible for creating and issuing student identification cards.
* May provide information to students at community events. Support and advance the CCS strategic plan, and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

COMPETENCIES & OTHER REQUIREMENTS REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)
Associates degree from an accredited institution. Or, an equivalent mix of education and experience that demonstrates the candidate meets all competency requirements for this position. Ability to represent SCC in a friendly, courteous and professional manner. Knowledge of computers and spreadsheets, database and word processing software. Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing. Ability to multi task and work in a fast-paced environment. Proven ability to work within deadlines. Ability to operate office equipment. Must be able to work as a member of a team. Ability to interpret and apply regulations, policies and procedures received from multiple sources. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentially. Ability to perform mathematical calculations and/or verify information accurately. Acceptance of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at all times. A demonstrable understanding and acceptance of the mission, values, goals and objectives of CCS. The ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and goals of the institution, community and technical college system. PREFERRED COMPETENCIES (DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS)
Two years of related experience. Experience in a higher education environment. Experience with a student management system – PeopleSoft.
