Description:
The Associate Director of Financial Aid is an exempt position that works under general direction, reports to the Director of Financial Aid, and is a member of the Student Central Leadership Team. This position supports and assists the director in the administration of the programs that make up federal, state and local campus-based aid. The associate director also works in collaboration with the leadership team and has responsibility for understanding the polices, and performing the functions related to the departments included in Student Central, and for the development of new procedures, policies, and training related to the work and operation of Student Central. A critical function of this position is to organize and direct the Financial Aid Office daily operations, supervise and train full and part-time staff, and assist other departments on campus to resolve problems and issues related to students, and procedures and regulations. The work is managerial in nature, and performs highly complex work related to the administration of the financial aid program as a whole. This position operates at the fully-qualified level with an ability to work independently and in accordance with federal, state and college regulations, rules, and policies.

 

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS/CORE COMPETENCIES:

-Bachelor's degree. Any combination of relevant education and/or experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

-Five years experience in administering two or more federal or state financial aid programs in a higher education setting.

-Two years progressive experience leading or supervising other staff (may include part-time and student employees).

-Experience using student financial aid database systems; demonstrated technical skills and proficiency with other software and computer systems.

-Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office programs - specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.

-Ability to work in accordance with federal and state regulations, and college policies and procedures.

-Effective communication skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with persons from diverse populations.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

-Experience using PeopleSoft in a Student Financial or Enrollment Services area

-Experience in developing and implementing business processes and technology solutions.
