Description:
Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) is seeking applicants to fill the role of Dean of Enrollment Services and Financial Aid / Registrar on the Walla Walla campus. General Responsibilities

The Dean of Student Enrollment Services and Financial Aid/Registrar provides leadership and vision for student services, programs, and functions that constitute Student Enrollment and Financial Aid including: admissions and registration, student records, financial aid, and testing. The position will provide critical entry, and completion services for Walla Walla Walla Community College’s student population. Additionally, the position will oversee and ensure accurate and timely federal and state reporting and will provide students with excellent customer service. The incumbent will supervise and mentor all department staff. The Dean of Student Enrollment Services and Financial Aid/Registrar manages a departmental budget of approximately $1,000,000, and provides leadership in its development. Excellent communication, relationship building, and inclusive leadership skills are critical to this position. The incumbent must demonstrate an appreciation of and respect for a diverse academic environment that entails students, faculty, and staff from varying backgrounds. The Dean is expected to be highly motivated, flexible, capable of effectively leading in a complex environment, and must be detail oriented.

 

Essential Functions

•Provide leadership to support evidence-informed, continuous improvement of student entry and on-boarding processes; student access; student retention and persistence; and completion.

•Act as the primary communicator between Student Enrollment and Financial Aid and the college Strategic Leadership Team, Instructional Leadership, Advising, and other campus departments.

•Collaborate with Recruitment and Outreach to support access initiatives, such as “financial aid nights” where potential students and their families are assisted with creating a financial plan, completing WAFSA and FAFSA, and identifying sources that could reduce the household cost of higher education.

•Promote culturally responsive customer service that responds to the changing needs of diverse students and communities the college serves.

•Ensure regulatory compliance, accurate record keeping and reporting to Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges.

•Oversee WWCC’s Testing Center.

•Develop, oversee, and monitor the budget for Student Enrollment and Financial Aid.

•As registrar, oversee the annual production of the academic calendar and college catalogue.

•Lead a collaborative work environment where participatory decision-making is valued and practiced, ensuring strong communication and information flow.

•Foster and promote professional development of department staff.

•Work effectively with students, parents, and community partners to resolve issues and complaints at the appropriate levels. Oversee final financial aid appeals.

•Participate on data governance and strategic enrollment work-groups.

•Act as the campus Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act office and provide training and guidance for FERPA compliance; develop, maintain and administer processes for release of student records and information.

•Serve as Principal Designated School Official and knowledge resource for immigration regulations and international student enrollment.

•Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state rules, regulations, procedures and processes.

Qualifications:
Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Education, Student Development, or related field desired. Equivalent experience may substitute for education at the discretion of the college. Three years of progressively increasing administrative responsibility at a college or university in one or more of the following student services or programs: admissions and registration; records and reporting; international student programs; financial aid; or testing and placement. Bilingual and bicultural competencies and experience working with international student programs desired. Experience with budget management and familiarity with Oracle PeopleSoft and implementation in a higher education environment is desired but not required.

 

Terms and Conditions of Employment

This administrative position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Persons hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of lawful authorization to work in the United States within three (3) days of employment. Official college transcripts required at time of hire. Candidates may be subject to a criminal history background check as a condition of employment. Information from the background check may not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position. The college is a tobacco free institution.

 

Compensation

Annual salary range: $85,000.00 - $87,500.00. The college has an excellent benefit program including paid sick leave and vacation leave; medical, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance; retirement and two optional deferred compensation programs. All full-time employees will automatically have 3% of taxable income deferred into the State of Washington Deferred Compensation Program (DCP) unless waived at the time of hire. Administrative exempt staff set aside 1% of their gross salary in a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) (VEBA). All exempt employees are required to participate in this program. Walla Walla Community College requires all employees to participate in direct deposit for payment of salary.
