Description:
Purpose Statement The Financial Aid Supervisor reports to the Director of Financial Aid and supports the mission of the Office of Financial Aid by helping students and prospective students locate and utilize resources to fund their education at the institution while adhering to regulatory requirements. Essential Functions •    Supervises the daily operations of the Office of Financial Aid. •    Have supervisory oversight for financial aid advisors.•    Stay abreast of state and federal legislation changes and how these changes would directly impact students and staff at the Institute.•    Organize on-campus and off-campus events which promote financial aid awareness while acting as a representative of DIT.•    Process all Return of Title IV funds within the accurate timeframe as provided by the U.S. Department of Education.•    Disburse and return federal loans and grants, private loans, as well as state, institutional, and private scholarships. •    Comply with DigiPen, State, and Federal regulations and procedures.•    Works with students to secure and package third party/scholarship funding and provide required documentation to agencies to ensure timely payments are received by the Institute.•    Counsels prospective and current students/families about financial aid eligibility, application procedures, aid programs, and packaging policies, costs, billing process, indebtedness, money management and financial planning.•    Reviews and monitors cohort of student financial aid applications and determines eligibility based on institutional, federal and state regulations, using judgment and problem solving skills. Awards financial aid funds and certifies student loan applications. •    Provide training and guidance to team regarding regulatory guidelines, internal policy and procedures, student files and special cases.•    Imports and processes ISIR records and distributes to Financial Aid Administrators for packaging and resolution.•    Responsible for importing and exporting all financial aid data to the Department of Education on a daily basis.•    Modifies financial aid packages based on changes in enrollment level, budget adjustments, additional aid, etc. and communicates changes in eligibility to students. •    Provides a financial aid overview to all prospective students and their families of available funding sources and the institution's financial options while encouraging responsible debt management. •    Interacts with students and parents calmly and graciously under difficult situations and be capable of explaining complex and confusing regulations to students and parents. •    Represents the department at special events such as Open House, Accepted Open House, Information Sessions, etc. •    Follow-up on: incomplete loan applications, missing loan applications and renewal applications, missing in-school financial aid forms and other incomplete paperwork on new starts and returning students. •    Follow-up with continuing students to collect all required documentation to complete financial aid awarding process. •    Assists with federal, state, VA, and accrediting agency audits.•    Assists with other projects as needed.•    Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Qualifications:•     Bachelor Degree with emphasis in Business, Accounting or related degree or equivalent of years in experience.•     3 years experience in a high-volume, customer orientated financial aid office with extensive personal computer experience. •     Must be punctual; be able to work with constant interruptions and pressure of deadlines, and willing to work evening and weekends when required. •     Must enjoy working with the public; be able to relate well to college students, faculty and staff.•     Professional conduct committed to student focused service and ability to work in an environment demanding confidentiality is required. •     Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team to reach goals. •     Exceptional written and oral communication skills which transcend diverse audiences. •     Working knowledge of the financial aid regulations associated with the Department of Education, accrediting bodies, and state and federal regulatory agencies required. •     Knowledge of state and federal financial aid systems in PC computing environment (EDE, COD, NSLDS, EFT Processing, Online, FAA Access, CSAW) spreadsheet and word processing skills, and web access software systems. •     Prefer knowledge of EdExpress, QuickBooks, and PowerFAIDS software. •     Ability to quickly comprehend and execute new computer programs. •     Knowledge of financial aid terminology and needs analysis. •     Ability to read and interpret government regulations. •     Professional conduct committed to student focused service and ability to work in an environment demanding confidentiality is required.
