Description:
This position is responsible for assisting with the overall management and leadership of the Communications area. The position has primary responsibility for planning, directing, and facilitating all Student Financial Services internal and external customer communications; creating and implementing department communications plan; and providing top-level counseling and guidance support for all client services and outreach operations. This position provides prospective and current customers financial services assistance through emphasis on individual attention, high quality service, and excellent communications. This position provides team support and cooperative direction with department client services as well as the financial aid and scholarship-related processing functions which require regulatory knowledge and attention to detail. This position will direct, manage, and administer Student Financial Services office personnel including Communications staff and participate in internal and external working committees. Position duties and responsibilities will be performed in support of the office and university vision, mission, values, and goals

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least one (1) year of managerial experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Education and experience can be tailored to fit the specific organizational entity/directorial assignment. Positions may require applicable licensure and/or certification.Four (4) years of applicable student financial services experience; demonstrated, first-hand experience in customer service and familiarity with working with diverse populations; developed skills in all areas of written and verbal communication, including background with small and large group presentations; ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends/evenings; exceptional problem-solving, project management, decision-making, and visionary skills. Proven leadership and supervisory experience. Preferred Qualifications:Experience with student services in a higher education setting especially Admissions, Student Accounts, Academic Advising, Registrar, Graduate School, Athletics, and/or Housing and Dining. Demonstrated experience in managing, leading, and training a team in a fast-paced, high-touch customer/client services environment. Background in conflict resolution and customer service strategies and approaches. Communications background and experience including: publications, outreach and marketing, public and community relations, social media, and/or media relations. Experience collaborating with colleagues in higher education and/or other client services industry with multiple campuses or customer locations. Experience with PeopleSoft. Superior database, data analysis, and Excel skills. Master’s Degree
